Gloucester is known for 11th-century Gloucester Cathedral, which has Romanesque and Gothic architecture, plus the tomb of King Edward II. Nearby are the Gloucester Docks, with restored Victorian warehouses, a dry dock and the Mariners Chapel. The National Waterways Museum celebrates the city’s industrial past with   canal boats and interactive displays.

Hanbury Hall and gardens, offers a glimpse into life at the turn of the 18th century. There are wall-paintings by Sir James Thornhill. Full of drama and politics, The original formal gardens, designed by George London, have been faithfully re-created. They complement the relaxed later gardens, with orangery, orchards and walled garden.
