The Big Pit is one of Britain's coal mines. The mine was workimg from 1880 to 1980 and was then opened to the public from 1983. Explore the mine and find out what life was like being a miner on the guided tour. If this is not for you there is a virtual tour of a coal mine without having to go into the mine. There is plenty to explore.
The Breacon Mountain Railway runs from Pant to Torpantau Enjoy the scenic views from this historic steam train as it travels through woodlands, sparkling reservoir's and views of the mountains. While in Pant take the opportunity to visit the workshops where they repair the engines and carriages.
Carmarthan lies on the River Towy and has been a market town since Roman Times. While you are here there is time to visit Carmarthan Castle in Nott Square or the town’s museum. Why not take a stroll by the water or browse the local shops where there is plenty of choice for lunch or a coffee.
